Other purposes

All fresh or as a decoction parts of the plant (seeds, leaves, bark, sap flowing from the stem) can be used after preparations in traditional medicine and veterinary purposes against skin diseases and to soothe pain from rheumatism. Presently in many countries soap is produced from the Jatropha oil, which soaps has positive effects on the skin and is therefore marketed for medicinal purposes. The sap from the stem is also used to control wound bleedings.
